Leveling Criteria
Each piece on the website is categorized into difficulty levels. Below are explanations of what kind of pieces can be found in each level:
Beginner (MUSIC COMING SOON):
Quarter note, half notes, dotted half notes and whole note values mostly. Limited hand position movement.
Late-Beginner:
LH maintains a pattern throughout piece, some fingering provided, limited hand position changes, 8th note patterns, tonic and V7 chords (blocked and broken), crossing hands, dotted quarter note rhythms, 4/4 and 6/8 time signatures, limited ledger line notes, 8va, 1st and 2nd endings, hand over hand root position tonic and V7 triads blocked and broken, dotted note rhythms
Intermediate:
16th notes, full octaves scales, simple syncopation, LH slurs and staccatos and chord patterns while the RH is legato (or the reverse), LH chord patterns that spread an ocatve
Late- Intermediate:
Cut time, alternating LH/RH rhythms and melodic patterns, B part has both hands in treble clef, many more accidentals, grace notes, range up to high E, LH patterns spread across an octave
Advanced:
Larger chords in addition to characteristics of the other levels, more complex rhythms
